DRAGON GATE GORGE

Dragon Gate Gorge follows a green river valley where, in legend, carp that leap the gate become dragons. Misty karst peaks rise from both banks, bamboo groves crowd the road, rice terraces step up the hillside and bamboo rafts drift on the jade river, all beneath a colossal lacquered dragon gate spanning the track.

The third stage of the Trials of the Middle Kingdom is raced in the rain: long flowing sweepers beside the river with two technical kinks at the gorge narrows.

• Keep inputs smooth in the wet. The river is right on the outside edge.
• Carry speed through the flowing sweepers instead of braking for each one.
• Use the long run under the Dragon Gate to boost.
